Studio Tanaïs Scent Sextets are a discovery set designed around an olfactory theme, a sacred journey through six singular perfumes designed and handcrafted by Tanaïs in NYC. Using rare and hypnotic resins, absolutes and oils from around the world, along with the finest perfumer’s grade raw materials, these mixed media compositions are works of art, for your body and soul.

The In Sensorium Scent Sextet is inspired by Tanaïs’ award winning book, In Sensorium: Notes For My People, and includes:

Mala, incense, a temple garland

Matí, roses, rain and monsoon-swept earth

Pilgrimage, marigold, saffron, spice, a river journey 

Ancients, cool, crisp evergreens and hi-altitude lavender fougérè

Nymphaea, Sacred blue water lily and white lotus, aquatic floral

Lovers Rock, spicy tobacco tonka and vanilla

Especially love Ancients

I first knew of Tanais from reading Bright Lines. I then stumbled upon their memoir In Sensorium at a stoop sale in Brooklyn and was delighted to learn they were developing their artistic practice in perfume. I love the scent sextet as a way to explore the very special fragrance journeys that they have crafted to share. Each scent in the In Sensorium sextet has felt like a precious privilege. I especially love the journey from top to base notes of Ancients, which reminds me of camping off of the 1 in Big Sur, a most beautiful part of the earth. I also appreciate the personal communication from Talysha regarding shipping of my order.
